Tri-County Rural by Choice

May 14, 2014
Are aware of an exciting new group forming right in your backyard! The group is called Tri-County Rural by Choice, and it supports Pottawatomie, Shawnee and Wabaunsee counties. The main purpose of RBC is for people to get together that CHOOSE to live in rural communities. This group will be a way of generating positive, new ideas for our rural towns! Through this group, we hope to not only create ideas but also put them into action. From entertainment events, to community gardens, to volunteer opportunities, we hope this group can provide a variety of different assets to our rural communities. This will definitely need to be a group effort, but I know that together we can accomplish a lot. We hope to give people yet another reason to be proud of choosing to live rural, and we definitely want this to be a continued effort that lives on for many, many years to come.

With all of that said, we will be hosting our first event, a Community Bonfire, on Saturday, May 24th at the St. Marys Golf Course. Gates open at 7:00 PM, and our musical guest, Ned LeDoux, will start performing at 8:00 PM. Not only will Ned be playing songs for us, but he will be playing a two-hour tribute show that he made in memory of his Dad, THE Chris LeDoux! You don't want to miss this!

Cost will be $5 for adults, $3 for kids and children 6 and under are free. We will sell hot dogs and s'mores to roast over the fire, and beverages can be purchased IF you are of the legal age. It's BYOC (bring your own chair), and carpooling in strongly suggested due to limited parking. NOTE: In case of rain, the event will move to the St. Marys Armory Building (110 S. 5th Street, St. Marys).
