K-99 Over Snipe Creek Bridge Replacement Project

Set to Begin in Marshall County – UPDATE!

June 17, 2014
On Monday, June 16, a replacement project will begin on the K-99 Bridge over Snipe Creek located 4.37 miles north of the north K-9 junction in Marshall County. Project work includes replacement of the existing 36-foot wide structure with a 36-foot reinforced concrete haunched slab structure with two 12-foot driving lanes and 6-foot shoulders. Work will take place during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with some occasional Saturday work.

Beginning on Monday, June 16, weather permitting, crews will begin by setting traffic control for the project, including the marked detour route signage. Then sometime later that day, both northbound and southbound K-99 over the Clear Creek drainage area bridge will be CLOSED all through traffic for the duration of the project.

A marked detour route will be provided. Northbound K-99 traffic will detour via eastbound K-9 to northbound K-87 to westbound U.S. 36 back to K-99. Southbound K-99 traffic will detour via eastbound U.S. 36 to southbound K-87 to westbound K-9 back to K-99. See marked detour route map below.

Traffic will be directed through the project work zone via signage, cones and barriers. Drivers should allow extra time for their daily commutes and must use alternate routes throughout the project duration.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and "Give 'Em a Brake!" when approaching and driving through the project work zone.

Ebert Construction Company, Inc. (Wamego, KS) is the primary contractor on this bridge replacement project with a total contract cost of $1.113 million. The scheduled completion date for the bridge replacement project is late November 2014, weather permitting.

This project is funded by T-WORKS, the transportation program passed by the Kansas Legislature in May 2010. Find out more about this and other T-WORKS projects at: http://kdotapp.ksdot.org/TWorks/.
