Gallery, Museum Store Opening at Kansas Museum of History

Mayor Larry Wolgast and other Topeka area dignitaries will cut the ribbon to open the Real People. Real Stories. gallery and new Museum Store 3:30 p.m. Thursday, July 10 at the Kansas Museum of History. The ceremony coincides with the celebration of the Museum's 30th anniversary in its building in west Topeka. To thank the community for supporting the Museum for 30 years, admission is free 3 8 p.m., and the Cheyenne tipi in the main gallery will be open for visitors to explore the interior. Behind-the-scenes tours of the Museum and State Archives collections are scheduled for 4:30, 5:30, and 6:30 p.m. Kansas Historical Society staff members will be available to discuss archeology, historic preservation, state historic sites, the State Archives, and education programs for adults and children.
