Rock Creek advanced past the Falcons of Riley County on Monday in a 3 seed (Mustangs) vs. 6 seed (Falcons) 6 inning 10 run rule contest. Rock Creek scored early with a 2 out pair of hits from Brynn Hammett who singled and scored on Alexis Wilson's double. "Brynn runs the bases so very well. She cuts them just right and once she gets going she can motor. We love having her on the bases. Was a good tone setting statement hit from Alexis." Rock Creek scored another 2 in the bottom of the third via a Jayden Weers leadoff walk and a Winter Henry single. Abbie Plummer then hit a fielder's choice to reach safely. Plummer then stole second and was able to make it home on a passed ball and errant throw from the Falcon catcher to second trying to throw out Alexis Wilson who reached safely by walking and stealing second. Rock Creek scored another pair of runs in the bottom of the 4th to go up 5-0 after 4 complete innings. Shannon Caffrey singled and eventually scored on Jayden Weers first of two doubles in the game. Weers then scored on another single from Henry. The Mustangs put together 5 hits in the game ending 6th inning to score 5 and go up by a run rule of 10 to complete the game an inning early. Blair Campbell started the inning with a bunt single, Ariel Petty drew a walk, and then Weers, who finished the game 2-2 with 2 doubles and 3 RBI's knocked out her second double to the fence in right center. Petty was thrown to at the plate, but she had a textbook hook slide that landed her safe to plate on of the runs. Winter Henry chimed in with her best hit of the game an opposite side triple to the fence that scored a run. Abbie Plummer too, added her best offensive effort of the game with a screamer double line drive over third base to plate Henry. Brynn Hammett reached safely on an infield squib hit, and with runners at the corners, Hammett and Plummer were each able to advance on stolen bases to finish the run rule victory. "We put together a great TEAM victory in this game. Everybody knew their role and worked through things to generate the win." Blair did an excellent job from the mound. Keeping the big hitters for Riley in check, allowing only 3 hits and no walks, and taking care of 4 batters with strikeouts it was a good day for Blair from the mound. Defensively, Blair did a great job of fielding her position too she had 6 assists and caught a line drive screamer. Rock Creek collected 11 hits in the game, led by both Winter Henry and Jayden Weers who were 1000 from the dish in the game.

Rock Creek, now 12-9 on the season, will advance to the semifinal game against MEL opponent Rossville, in a game to be played at 4:00 on Wednesday. The other semifinal game will be MEL foes as well Silver Lake vs Alma Wabaunsee (Wabaunsee defeated Council Grove to advance). The winners of each game will play in the championship to follow the 4:00 games.
