Burglarys
The Pottawatomie County Sheriff Office is asking for help from the public in identifying the person or persons responsible for recent daytime burglaries in rural Manhattan in areas along Blue River Road, Junietta Road, and Moody Road. Since Sept 29, 2012 there have been a total of 4 rural residential burglaries in this area East of Manhattan. Sheriff's Detectives believe the suspect-s are targeting rural homes during daytime hours when the residents are away. The latest incident occurred on 10/25/2012 in the 5500 block of Moody Road. The suspect-s in this incident pried a sliding glass door open and gain entry to the residence. Once inside, they removed jewelry and coins from the house. The loss will exceed 1000 dollars. Earlier this same afternoon a resident on Junietta Road reported a suspicious person had come to their door and after ringing the bell acted surprised by the owner coming to the door. The individual made statement as to being at the wrong house and quickly departed. The individual was described as a white male in his early 20's, clean shaven medium length hair and driving a maroon, possibly Chevy Malibu 4 door. The vehicle may have had a veteran’s license plate.
Residents in this area should be aware of this activity and report suspicious activity to the Sheriff's Office.
Anyone with information on these crimes are asked to contact the Pottawatomie County Sheriff Office at 785-457-3353.
