Don Twidwell, 97, of Frankfort, Kansas, died Wednesday, December 12, 2012, at the Frankfort Community Care Home. He was a long-time resident of the area.
Don was born May 31, 1915, on the family farm near Winifred, Kansas, the son of Claud and Anna Hadorn Twidwell. He attended local schools and graduated from Frankfort High School in 1932.
Don worked the family farm until 1954 when he moved to Phoenix, Arizona, there he owned and operated a carpet store. He remained in Phoenix until his retirement in 1980 and moved back to Frankfort.
Don was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed attending church and enjoyed being around other people.
He married Nelda McHugh on December 24, 1958, in Phoenix. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2011.
Don is survived by his brother, Ray Twidwell, of Frankfort and numerous nieces and nephews. He was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Thelma Hartman and Frances Hills.
Graveside funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 14, 2012, at the Frankfort City Cemetery. Reverend Marilyn Sweet will be officiating. Mr. Twidwell will lie-in-state on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until 6: 00 p.m. at Campanella-Evans Mortuary in Wamego. Online condolences may be made at www.campanellafuneral.com
